A leading member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Nadowli-Kaleo constituency, David Banye has expressed displeasure over how some members of the party are busily campaigning for the position of the parliamentary candidate, even when the incumbent MP has not yet vacated the seat.
According to him, much as he is interested in contesting for the position, the party is yet to lift the veil for campaigning hence his decision to wait until the party gives the green light. Speaking on Wa based W93.5FMs morning show ‘Wake up Upper West’ he stated that ‘several people have started campaigning for the parliamentary candidature as if the seat is vacate. We still have a sitting member of parliament and we must accord him that due respect and all of us must follow the party guidelines as well’.
David Banye Jawara, the pioneer youth organizer for NDC in the Nadowli-Kaleo constituency also debunked rumors going round that he has decided not to contest as the parliamentary candidate. ‘I am going to contest this election when the party opens nominations. I know the delegates are looking at our service to the party, I know I stand tall per my contributions to the party since 1992. I am not just in to contest the elections but to win convincingly’.
The dye-in-the wool NDC member went ahead to call on all NDC delegates within the constituency and the Upper West region as a whole to vote massively for the second deputy speaker of parliament Hon. Alban Kingsford Bagbin who is the member of parliament for the Nadowli-Kaleo constituency.
Hon Alban Bagbin is currently in the race to contest as flag bearer for the National Democratic congress, since the longest serving MP will not be contesting for the primaries, about eight NDC members have started moving across the length and breadth of the constituency campaigning for the parliamentary seat.
