Hajia Humu Foundation supports women in Wa

A humanitarian organization, Hajia Humu Foundation in the Wa Municipality, has presented an interest free loans to augment petty businesses of vulnerable women in the society.

Dividing the Wa central area into five zones, women are registered, accessed and vetted on their illegibility to be credited with a non refundable capital for their business activities. 

This was a fulfillment by the CEO of the foundation, as she pledged to help women with finances in petty trade during the official launch of the foundation three months ago.

In a ceremony at the Upper West Library Complex, a total of 200 women received envelopes of GH200 each. This monies are expected to impact greatly in the kind of business the selected women are involved in.

Humu Awudu, CEO of the foundation explained the loans are readily available to support women as her current focus. Her reasons stated that women are house keepers who are capable of putting such monies into good use.

Hajia Humu again noted that the selection of the women is not on any political or religious affiliations as people may perceive. This she said because her affiliation with the NPP didn’t mean her support was for NPP women only. “All we are looking at is to empower our mothers” she stated.

Commenting on her source of funding, Umu laid her muscle to as a rorm of ‘zakat’ from her business. She further disclosed an accumulation of her religious obligations is brought for the benefit of women and desired the traders would use the money to benefit society and also asked for prayers to achieve more to support the women in the community.

She added the foundation is open to collaborate with anyone that so desire to reach out to society in such manner and further state the loans are expected to be a form of revolving fund for the women in other to thrive on their own.

The foundation hinted extending its tentacles to other areas of the region to help in the fight against poverty as such amounts meant so much to others in some form of trade.
