Entourage from the Bimobaland lead by the Paramount Chief of Nakpanduuri in the company of the Gbankoun paramount chief, the Kpikpira paramount Chief, Queen mother of the Bunkurugu traditional area and other divisional and sub-chiefs, yesterday visited the Sankana traditional council in the Nadowli Kaleo district, to seek consent to enable them install Mr. Bernard Mornah as Youth chief of the Bimorbaland.
The entourage entered the Sankana Township from the Kaleo route a few minutes to noon which happened to be market day amidst drumming and dancing, they welcome the delegation to much cultural and traditional regalia with pomp and pageantry by both cultures.
The delegation who entered the Sankana Naa’s palace exchanged felicitations with Naa Saakoye Mornah III and his chiefs subjects of the traditional area before proceedings began.
The mission of the visit as expected by custom was announced by Naaba Dazuur II the paramount chief of Kpikpira in the timpani district.
Naaba Dazuur II explained that the visit is to take permission from the chief of Sankana to enable the Bimorba traditional people to confer a chieftaincy title on their son, Mr. Bernard Ambatayela Mornah as the Bisi Naad of their area.
‘‘That relationship is triggered by a son of Sankana, Bernard Mornah’’ ‘‘He stood before the Bimorbas and told them he was a son of the Bimorbaland’’ ''Our mission here is just simple and two-shot things. First to establish a relationship between the Dagaaba people and the Bimorba and for economic benefits'' he said.
He further disclosed that Bernard Mornah has always been with them in every situation that they find themselves and has been an inspiration to the youth of Bimorbaland and deserved to be a member of their royalty to bring the desired attention as Dagaaba and Bimorba has a common enemy as poverty and ignorance to fight off.
‘‘There is poverty in the Dagaabaland, there is poverty in the Bimorbaland, there is ignorance and disease in the Bimorbaland and there is same n the Dagaabalad’’ he added
Naaba Dazuur that politics is one which needed to bring development to every society and that Mr. Bernard Mornah is one such person that is known to be for the downtrodden and they are proud to make him chief to enable him have the strength and support of the Bimobaland to bring them, investors.
‘‘A young man of that nature triggered hunger in the pc of Nakpanduuri traditional area, triggered hunger in the paramount chief of Gbankuon, triggered hunger in the paramount Queen of Bunkprugu traditional area, triggered hunger in all the divisional chiefs in the Bimorbaland to look for his home find out if we can reestablish this relationship that existed in oral history’’
The chief of Sankana, Naa Saakoye Mornah who is a cousin of Bernard Mornah III was happy to welcome the entourage to the area and said traced the origin of the people of Sankana to as far as Karaga, North East region of Ghana. And insisted the tribes could have been friends way back before now and rekindling that’s friendship is a thing that must stay further.
Naaba Dazuur used the ceremony to extend an invitation the people the area to join them on the 29th of this month to celebrate their home festival as that should be a point of fostering the cultures of both areas.
Naa Saakoye Mornah the III used the ceremony to thank the Bimorbaland for seeing substance in their kinsman Bernard Mornah by doing him such honour in the kingdom of Bimorbaland. He said in the Dagaabaland, when you have a son of societal benefit you surely would be proud of him and as such they are happy Mr. Mornah has brought such honour and pride home.
He, however, wished the best in whatever good intentions they have and pledged his support in seeing both cultures grows to benefit them all and promised to have Sankana present in the coming Bimorba festival in two weeks’ time.
Hundred and one cola nuts and a 5yr old ram were presented to the chief of Sankana as a sign of respect in his palace. Naaba Dazuur ate the one cola as expected by tradition leaving a hundred pieces behind.
The people of Sankana also presented a white ram and a sack of tiger nuts as a kind gesture of the memorial visit of the Bimorba people to the traditional area.
Bernard Mornah is the National Chairman of the opposition political party, Peoples National Convention. He has risen through the ranks of the party to be the chairman.
Mr. Mornah is also known for his vast political influence in the country and his open criticism of governments on some policy formulations. He is also a well-known pan Africanist and is hopeful of leading the Nadowli-Kaleo constituency in parliament come 7th January next year.
