UWR/EC runs short of registration materials-PNC

Members of the Peoples National Convention from the Nadowli/Kaleo constituency are appalled by the Electoral Commission over a shortage in registration materials in some centers in the area.

A statement issued by Kanduma John an aid to Bernard Mornah and copied to watchghana.com has since described the situation as deliberate attempts by the ‘incompetent’ EC director in the constituency.

It further states the officials have targeted the stronghold of their parliamentary candidate which also happens to be his hometown, Sankana.

They, therefore, call on the EC to make the registration materials available.

‘‘We, therefore, call on the EC to make materials available by the start of work tomorrow and to also have a day added on to cover up for the time lost today.’’

PNC APPALLED OVER SHORTAGE OF VOTER IDENTIFICATION REGISTRATION FORMS IN THE NADOWLI/KALEO CONSTITUENCY

The Peoples’ National Convention in the Nadowli/Kaleo constituency is appalled at the Electoral Commission over the shortage of registration materials in some registration centers earlier today 3rd August 2020. This indeed marks the third (3rd) time we have had to complain about the clear bias and orchestrated plot by the EC in the constituency to frustrate and eventually deny eligible constituents of their right to become registered voters.

We initially sounded the alarm bells that the commission had changed the schedule for registration arbitrarily and also deployed faulty registration equipment to the Sankana electoral area which indeed is the hometown as well as a stronghold of Comrade Bernard Anbataayela Mornah our parliamentary candidate. We officially wrote to the district office of the EC regarded the deployment of faulty equipment to Sankana but are yet to receive any response.

Today the EC in the Nadowli/Kaleo constituency has caused hundreds of eligible constituents who traveled from far and near to return to their destinations without being registered only be given an illogical explanation that they have run out of registration forms. Registration centers in the Kanyini electoral area (Chaang primary, Kanyinguasi primary, Kanyini primary, and Kpagdinga) have had to close before noon due to the shortage of these forms which we are reliably informed is artificial. If this is not a means of disenfranchising people what else is it?

Over the years we have had a very cordial relationship with the EC in the constituency until the entry of this new director who has clearly shown bias against the PNC coupled with his exhibition of incompetence.

We, therefore, call on the EC to make materials available by the start of work tomorrow and to also have a day added on to cover up for the time lost today.

We also call on the district director to eschew all his biases and uphold professionalism.

The PNC and our candidate have several options to get our grievances addressed if the EC director fails to take wise counsel.

Thank you.

…Signed……

John Kandumah
