NPP UK Fires Mahama For Lying Over Election Results To Cause Violence In Ghana

The UK Branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has descended heavily on the leader of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama for his continuous lies and deceit to his own party supporters and Ghanaians before, during and after the 2020 general elections.

According to the NPP – UK, Mr. Mahama’s posture and utterances since the time of voters registration exercise to the December 7 election and after declaration of results by the Electoral Commission (EC) clearly smacked of nothing but sheer desperation for power and attempt to destabilize the peace of Ghana.

A statement issued by the NPP UK Communications Directorate lambasted Mr. John Mahama and the leadership of NDC for deceiving their ignorant supporters and inciting them for violence across Ghana as a result of their false claim of victory in the presidential election by a whopping 52.1%.

It would be recalled that Mr. John Dramani Mahama blatantly refused to concede defeat after the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Mrs. Jean Mensa had pronounced the incumbent President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as the winner of the 2020 presidential election.

Even before the verdict, he took to Twitter, Facebook and other social media platforms to misinform Ghanaians that he had won the presidential polls and majority parliamentary seats. Mr. Mahama went ahead to thank Ghanaians for voting for change and asked his supporters to go out and celebrate.

After the final verdict was pronounced in favour of his opponent in the NPP, Mr. John Dramani Mahama urged his teeming party supporters to hit the streets of Ghana with protests against the EC resulting in most cases, needless roadblocks, burning of lorry tyres on the streets, and alleged burning of market centres and other state properties.

However, Mr. John Mahama and the NDC in their petition to the Supreme Court of Ghana on Wednesday 30th December, 2020 to challenge the election results, indicated that they did not actually win the presidential polls but rather are praying the Court to order the EC for a run-off.

The statement ridiculed that “after claiming they won the elections by their own ‘magimatical’ computations in both the presidential and parliamentary, Ghanaians were expecting to see some hard credible evidence to back their claim in the Supreme Court but the NDC has rather made a u-turn by calling for 2nd round of the election”.

The NPP UK described the NDC as an unruly political party, with disregard and disrespect for the rule of law judging by the incidents of market fires, burning of buses and unlawful congregation of their supporters and the constant negative propaganda and attack on personalities in the media.

“We would like to remind those in the NDC that the elections are over, and Ghana has to move on to deal with more pressing issues such as the fight against poverty and the COVID-19 pandemic”.

The statement also advised Ghanaians to stop following the lies and propaganda from John Mahama and NDC and rather support the NPP Government to develop Ghana and build a better future for the next generation.
