Deputy Chairperson of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) in charge of Finance and Administration, Madam Kathleen Addy, urges all Ghanaians to work towards protecting the peaceful atmosphere of country.
According to her, it is the responsibility of every citizen in the country to ensure that the peace in the state is maintained to promote growth and development, since it is not only the duty of government to protect the country's peace but the citizens as well.
Madam Addys made this statement when addressing the stakeholder's engagement on peace and security organised by the NCCE in collaboration with the Ministry of National Security with support from the European Union (EU) at Agona Swedru in the Central Region.
This meeting was attended by representatives from the Ghana Police Service, Ghana Immigration Service (GIS), Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), Persons with Disability (PWD's), religious leaders, civil society organisations and political parties.
Madam Addy cautioned Ghanaians against taking the peace of the nation for granted as it will be at their own disadvantage.
She urged Ghanaians to be
on guard against activities that threatens the peace of the nation since any form can cause instability which will be devastating to the country.
During the open forum, some stakeholders appealed to the media not allow their platforms to be used as a medium to disturb the peace in the country as it happened in Rwanda some years ago.
