'I have not taken decision to go Independent in Yendi' - NPP's Hajia Abibata replies detractors

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for MASLOC, Hajia Abibata Shanni Mahama has disassociated herself from social media reports suggesting that she has opted to contest the Yendi Constituency parliamentary seat as an independent candidate in the 2024 general elections.

Hajia Abibata Shanni Mahama is one of the parliamentary aspirants in the recently held NPP primaries in Yendi held on 27th January, 2024, which ended inconclusively.

She has aftermath of the chaotic election, petitioned the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party to address the matter and ensure a possible re-run of the election between her and the incumbent MP, Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama.

However, a statement issued in Yendi and signed by her Campaign Spokesperson,
Mr. Shamsudeen Abdul-Rahaman said "the attention of Hajia Abibata Shanni Mahama has been drawn to a flyer
circulating on social media, which seeks to suggest that she would be
contesting the Yendi Constituency Parliamentary elections as an Independent
Candidate.

According to Shamsudeen, it is an attempt by her detractors to cause disaffection for her within the rank and file of the party.

He emphasized that, Hajia Abibata Shanni Mahama has no such intention, so the flyer should be treated with the contempt that it deserves. "She remains a loyal and
committed Danquah-Busia-Dambo tradition patriot. Under no circumstance would she ever ditch the tradition. This is an attempt by her detractors to cause disaffection for her within the
rank and file of the NPP".

Mr. Shamsudeen noted that Hajia Abibata believes in the democratic principles and values of the party and would
patiently wait for the resolution by the Party.

He entreated the general public to disregard the said flyer and continue to rally behind Hajia Abibata Shanni Mahama as she prepares to lead the NPP as the 2024 parliamentary candidate.
