King of Dagbon Advocates for Ghana as Key Raw Material Supplier for Turkey's Bursa City

The King of Dagbon, Ya-Na Abukari II, has highlighted the potential for Ghana to become a significant beneficiary of Bursa city's $25 billion annual export production. Speaking during a meeting with the leadership of the Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Ya-Na Abukari II emphasized Ghana's capability to supply raw materials at competitive prices to enhance production for mutual benefits between Ghana and Turkey.

The meeting, held at the Chamber's headquarters in Bursa, Turkey, was part of the Ya-Na's 10-day visit to the country. Established in 1889, the Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry is an industrial hub with a vibrant network of companies exporting to over 200 countries.

Ya-Na Abukari II urged the Chamber to consider Ghana a crucial partner and source of raw materials for investment, citing Ghana's stable democracy, free press, and independent judiciary as key attractions. He also highlighted Ghana's $60 billion petrochemicals industry and the availability of cashew, soybeans, shea butter, shea nuts, and sesame for production.

He pointed out the abundant water and arable land in Northern Ghana, with the potential to develop about 540,000 hectares of irrigable land for agriculture. Additionally, Northern Ghana has 11 dam sites suitable for hydro power production, with a capacity to generate about 550MW of power, making it an attractive destination for Turkish investors.

The Vice President of the Chamber, Mr. Cuneyt Sener, welcomed the Ya-Na's visit, describing it as a landmark event and the first of its kind by a reigning monarch since the Chamber's inception over 130 years ago. He pledged the Chamber's commitment to sending a trade and investment delegation to Ghana to explore the opportunities further.

Accompanying Ya-Na Abukari II were his Foreign Relations Advisor, Dalun Lana Tapha Mahamadu III, Sakpe Naa Alabira, Secretary to the Ya-Na Alhaji AbdulRahman Mohammed, and Public Relations Officer at the Gbewaa Palace, Mr. Musah Yakubu.
