Excerpts from Her Resignation Letter
"I write to officially notify your good offices of my resignation as the National Coordinator of the Ghana School Feeding Programme effective 24th February 2025. I appreciate the opportunities I have had while serving in this role, and I'm proud of the accomplishments and progress made by our team during my tenure."
"However, I have decided to explore new opportunities, hence the need to resign. Thank you all for an incredible working relationship, and I wish the Programme continues on the success and the structures we have built in order to achieve the shared objectives of GSFP."
Legacy and Achievements
Hajia Safia Mohammed, who also serves as the Deputy National Women's Organizer of the NPP, was appointed as GSFP National Coordinator in 2023 by former President Nana Akufo-Addo, replacing the late Mrs. Gertrude Quashigah.
Since assuming office, she has worked diligently to sustain and improve the social intervention program, which now provides free meals to over four million children in deprived public basic schools across Ghana.
Notably, she streamlined GSFP operations and introduced a new payment system that ensured timely disbursement of funds to caterers, effectively reducing agitations, demonstrations, and strikes that had previously plagued the program.
Hajia Safia's tenure will be remembered for her efforts in strengthening GSFP’s structures and enhancing its impact on vulnerable children in Ghana.
