Hajia Fati Forgor Assumes Office as New National Coordinator of the Ghana School Feeding Programme

The newly appointed National Coordinator of the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP), Hajia Fati Forgor, has officially assumed office with a commitment to building on the achievements of her predecessor, Hajia Safia Mohammed.

Accompanied by her two Deputy National Coordinators, Madam Felicia Mekpoi Bortey and Madam Faustina Lamptey—both Regional Women Organisers for Greater Accra and Central Regions, respectively—Hajia Forgor was warmly welcomed by Hajia Safia Mohammed, along with the management and staff of the GSFP National Secretariat.

Smooth Transition of Leadership

At a brief handover ceremony, Hajia Safia Mohammed officially transferred the keys to the GSFP National Secretariat, along with official vehicles, documents, and other essential working tools to the new leadership. She congratulated the incoming team and assured them of her continued support whenever needed.

She also urged the management and staff to cooperate fully with the new leadership to enhance the programme’s efficiency. Encouraging Hajia Forgor to remain firm, courageous, and resolute, she expressed confidence in the programme’s continued success.

A Call for Unity and Dedication

In her remarks, Hajia Fati Forgor expressed gratitude for the warm reception from her predecessor and the GSFP staff. She emphasized the importance of teamwork, urging all staff to foster unity, eliminate internal conflicts, and remain dedicated to achieving the programme’s objectives.

"I am here to work with the entire office as a team. I have no intention of engaging in witch-hunting or acting on prejudice. I believe in getting to know people personally rather than relying on hearsay. Through direct interaction, I will form my own judgments about individuals and their contributions," she assured.

On behalf of the management and staff, the Director of Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E), Madam Akyere Frimpong Manu, welcomed Hajia Fati Forgor and her deputies, pledging the team’s full support for the new leadership. She encouraged them to work diligently to improve and expand the social intervention programme.

Government Increases Feeding Grant

Meanwhile, the Government of Ghana has increased the feeding grant per child per meal from GHC 1.50 to GHC 2.00. This increment was announced by the Minister for Finance, Cassiel Ato Forson, during the presentation of the 2025 Budget Statement in Parliament.

This increase is expected to enhance the quality and sustainability of the school feeding programme, benefiting millions of schoolchildren across the country.
